These screws are well made and well priced. Many people don't think about what goes into the decision to buy a screw for a specific job. Obviously length is important, but often, like in this case, I need to know the hardness of the wood (relatively) when I need to drill a pilot hole, how much shear or tension the screw has to endure to do its job, its ability to resist corrosion and aesthetics. Screws are ideal for softer woods that don't require a pilot hole. One piece of advice I learned from my father about screws is that before you start turning the screw, run the screw's threads along the length of the bar of soap. It really works by reducing the friction of the screw going into the tree. Is a screw a screw? Not always. If you've ever had their heads ripped off from one of them, you know what I mean.
