This stuff is great for waterproofing more than just your roof. For example, I got this can to waterproof the inside of a large flower pot so that I can use it as a bird bath.It works for roofs, too, but you will need several coats. It will stands out as an obvious patch, so you should collect some of the colored granules from your current shingles, from a gutter or downspout, dry it thoroughly, then sprinkle it on the last coat before it's dry. Does a great job of toughening it up and hides the patch.This does not stand up well to foot traffic, so you should probably use something else for that sort of application.The black version is not black. More of a medium-dark gray.The consistency is much thicker than ordinary paint. Each coat goes on quite thick, but it is self leveling, and will seep into cracks, not just cover over them.It does not clean well from brushes and roller covers (or clothing), so use something you can throw away when you're done, and keep it in a plastic bag between coats.
