Does the job though! on vacuuming and floor care

I've had this new electric brush for a few months now but I'm putting off writing a review as I have very mixed feelings. I've had a NuTone system at home for 15 years now and the old Powerhead doesn't seem to be working anymore. I even took it and fixed it, but I was still not sure if it would work as well as my Hoover Corded Cyclonic Stick, SH20030, was able to run over the spot I was just vacuuming, picking up dog hair and dirt ! Time for a new powerhead! Okay, here's my experience with this new head: It's the ONLY model NuTone currently makes that's up to date. Any other powerheads you might find are older models. It took three tries to get one that actually WORKS! The first one didn't work! Second, the height adjuster was broken! The third worked! If you have a power hose model that's at least a few years older, you'll need to buy a metal nozzle and make sure you choose the right model for your hose. Another seller but check if it is ok. The hose barb fits snugly and it's not always easy to detach the hose from the wand. It comes in hard and pulls out even harder! The power head is bigger, chunkier and the height adjustment is loud and sounds cheap when you flick the switch on the right side of the head. The light is useless and would make no difference whether it was there or not. A power head attached to a stick will NOT lie on the floor or go under furniture like the old model - goofy and annoying! The power head is so big, the height it doesn't fit under a lot of furniture, like the old power head - annoying again! I think the power head is cheaply made, awkward to maneuver and too heavy to push and pull. The stick is much larger, which also increases the weight. The problem. Overall it sucks well (4 stars) but the complaints above (1-2 stars) drive me insane using it. My husband loves it but he doesn't suck as much and guys tend to like bigger things don't they! I have no doubt that this powerful essay was designed by a man! I think for the money, with a central vacuum system already installed in my house, it worked great and it would be hard to justify the cost of buying, say, Miele (which I wanted to do) but I always have got ugly looks again I promoted this idea and on top of that my vacuum repair shop was talking about the superior advantages of a central vacuum over all other vacuums on the market so I caved in and bought a new powerhead. Would I do it again, I think, given all the reasons above, but am I content with that - not really, and I have fleeting thoughts of finding a new and outdated old powerhead and going back to my old wand and being happy, when it's me vacuuming again! 5/27/13 Update The third powerhead has now started playing all types of racquets! Called for service at NuTone. It seems that since I live in Maine the only repair location was in New Jersey and I paid for shipping! The! Okay, my husband made this call, so I waited an hour, simmered a lot with a few four-letter words thrown in just in case, picked up the phone myself, and called NuTone again. Always contact the technical department for information on repairs or assistance. After a brief discussion with a VERY NICE technician, he told me he would send me a new one and all I had to do was fax my receipt. Well, that was simple and nice of him and his company. To be honest I was stunned but probably happy since I didn't have to pay to send this damn heavy thing in for warranty repair. the first place. I could buy another vacuum or find an old but still new nozzle to replace my old one. Oh, what journeys we take when we buy something. A warning on what you should know about weight, size and most importantly the warranty, as well as how to get service if you find a faulty powerhead. Make sure you get your purchase invoices when and where you need them. Three powerheads later and another on the way says little about the quality of this once highly regarded product. I would give their customer service very high marks as they answered many of my questions when I was looking for a replacement for my original powerhead to ensure I was purchasing the correct components as I had replaced my hose many years ago. Good luck if you decide to purchase. 1/26/2017 UPDATE After a long struggle with this nozzle and several trips to the vacuum, it's now history to fix it at the store for over $80 a head! Couldn't get a decent brush replacement that didn't make the head drag you across the floor when it worked! Imagine what that can do to your fine oriental carpets! Since the purchase, it failed several times, got stuck in the head, powerlifting to height stopped working and, of course, there were problems with replacing the brush, so in general, since I still hated it, I threw it away. I found a vacuum shop that was able to replace the correct brush on my old head, adjusted the way it connected to the new hose and fixed a small issue and I threw this "new one". " head forever back to the old one. The old original powerhead doesn't have level adjustment, but I'm fine with that. I'll live with it until NuTone releases a stronger head, or I'll live with the old one forever! I also lost the electrical connection in the hose handle after a year! The repair cost $125 but was cheaper than a new 35ft hose. It was worth fixing if I wanted to keep using the central vacuum system. NuTone needs to come together, but I think we could say the same about the dozens of device manufacturers who are adding more and more electronic bells and whistles at the expense of long-term uptime!
