I am a longtime Celestron fan. I have owned and used several of their products: I still own and use their 15x70 and 9x63 binoculars, their 10-30x50 and 5 inch spotting scopes. I said all of this so I can say this: the Celestron 20X50 monocular is a huge disappointment. details below. What's good: The skin feels comfortable and the focus wheel works as it should. The scope comes with a set of lens caps: the lens cap is tied down, the eyepiece lens cap is fixed but not tied down, so it's just waiting to evaporate. The exit pupil is good enough for my glasses. The bad: the image. The high coma makes focusing almost impossible, it works, but it's time consuming and annoying, plus the plane of focus is very thin and you have a rare range, even if I get used to it. Yes, I use a tripod. I understand this is new to their line. Maybe they just need to streamline the build process. But I think that the problem lies in the lack of coverage of the BAK-4 prism. If you read the sales literature, you will find that there is no mention of "fully multi-coated lenses". So my problem is that I noticed that before I bought it, but I still thought the Celestron story with high image quality would still be relevant. Unfortunately this did not happen. I emailed their service department and looked for a manual. During grilling. I'll give them a few more days to respond. If they don't respond I will request a refund. Dan Ellis. So Celestron contacted me and recommended that I replace the monocular. What I did. I just unpacked and tested it. Coma aberration was noticeably reduced, so focusing wasn't as difficult as it was in the first iteration. Not as easy as my other monoculars, but not as difficult as the first one either. This is the goalkeeper. 4 Stars Dan Ellis I now give the Celestron 20X50 monocular 4 stars. The focal plane is still too narrow.
