Review on πŸ”§ GEARWRENCH Bolt Biter 2-Piece Impact Extraction Screwdriver Set - 86090: Unlocking Stubborn Bolts with Precision by James Vachon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great concept, works well

They look like normal slotted and Phillips screwdrivers at first glance, but they have a built in spring and a gear inside that turns the shaft 12 degrees counterclockwise when hitting the end with a hammer. The bits do their best to cut hard into the screw to prevent stripping and seem to work better than simply hammering the screw in with an impact driver, which usually strips the screw unless you use a special extractor -Bit. very good, and these tools come with a lifetime guarantee. So if the mechanism ever fails or the bit wears out in any way, Gearwrench will easily replace it. The material used for the shanks is hardened steel and appears to be much stronger than traditional screwdriver blades. They can be used like regular screwdrivers, although they are a special tool for removing stuck screws. I have nothing critical to say about these tools. They come in the display package with some information on how the driver mechanism works and how to use these tools. Good quality and if you have other GW drivers the tops are easy to spot by the shiny steel detailing on the ends. I've used them with several different hammers, I guess it doesn't matter which one you use as long as it has enough impact to turn the mechanism.

Pros
  • High quality steel cap, rated for impact impact with 12 degree rotation
Cons
  • A few little things
