Review on Diablo D1050X Combination Saw Blade by William Byrd

A wonderful piece of engineering right here! It's a combo blade, so you might think it's a "jack of all trades, jack of all trades," but it's more of a jack of all trades and pretty good at the mall. It features 50 ATB-shaped teeth for clean cutting through wood fibers, while 5 flat-top teeth are strategically placed around the blade for better cutting performance. As you can see in the picture the blade is divided into 10 sets of 5 teeth with a deep groove in between. This serves to remove long chips when loosening; otherwise, they can remain and increase heat and friction when cutting. The tungsten carbide compound that Diablo uses for the teeth is really top notch; I had a narrow beveled branch wedge in my table saw that pressed this blade against a metal table insert as I cut through the metal and upon close inspection found no damage to the teeth. That doesn't mean you should use this blade for cutting metal, but the quality and durability are there. There are literally only two situations in wood cutting that I wouldn't want to use this blade for: Sawing large stands of thick, dense wood. , although it would be possible, and for cutting to length delicate and/or brittle woods and wood products where a perfect finish is required. The finish is very good, but the fact that it's also designed for ripping doesn't have a large number of teeth, no steep land on the ATB, and a moderately aggressive rake angle, which reduces the effectiveness of this blade in these tricky conditions. application.TL;DR While there are more expensive brands of combination and universal blades, this is the best solution for both the professional on a budget and the enthusiastic woodworker. If your shop should only have ONE desktop saw blade, it should be first on your list.
