They sounded really good even without an amp. With the amp, even better, I was now hearing so much highs and mids that my stock system was sorely lacking. With an amplifier, the bass output is fine, but it won't be the same unless you add a subwoofer. For a budget speaker system, JVC doesn't disappoint. They're not Rockfords, but they're damn good for under forty bucks. You won't regret getting them, especially if you're on a tight budget. Definitely an upgrade over stock. I ripped off one of the speaker wires because it was very difficult to connect to the Metra speaker adapter, most likely due to the Metra's tight fit, but be careful anyway, you can only push hard on the tiny speaker wire that's welded to the TWS. It still works, no problem, just a speaker wire hangs a bit from the speaker. It's not JVC's fault, just be careful with the cables, if they're stuck, loosen the female end of the speaker connector coming off the speaker cable a bit and you're good to go. Solid purchase.
