I have been using this product for many years. I really like the little charcoal balls. Their water purification ability seems better and lasts longer than other brands. It smokes a little when it gets in the water and gives off some dust so I recommend rinsing it in a bag. An aquarium filter must contain activated carbon. It captures invisible organic compounds, even small molecules. For this reason, it is important to remove it from the filter when adding the medicine to the water.
