Review on Enhance Road Safety with Calmoor Backup Cameras for Car and Truck by Darrius Frison

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works fairly well but has some issues

The product is installed. Nice picture, seems to work. The time will show. A few quirks: #1: Recommendations are always shown even when the rear camera is not on (hot wire for reverse), but always when the monitor is on. Red/yellow/green lines are always on a blank display. I didn't expect that, it's not mentioned anywhere in the product description. #2: Installation instructions are almost non-existent. You're alone. I sent an email and got a reply (but not the second follow-up email). No definitive answer has been given as to whether the lines will remain on. From their "instructions" for the product, as well as their email replies, it appears that English is definitely a second language. #3: The metal plate that was glued to the back of the monitor so it could attach to the magnet on the windshield mount immediately peeled off 3 times after installation until I re-glued it. Shouldn't have done it. However, I'm still pleased (so far) with the overall performance of this device. I did a lot of research before purchasing and despite the few issues mentioned I would choose and recommend the Wireless Calmoor. For those installed on a 2014 Tradesman RAM 1500 and using hitch wiring, the black, heavier wire is ground and the lighter, white/orange wire is the reverse light. I could not find this information online. Hope this helps someone else. Thanks. I will update the review if necessary. To update. Sometimes the camera captures a still image instead of displaying it as live video on the monitor. If you don't realize that leaders don't change, you have a misguided picture of what lies behind you. This has happened a few times along with a signal lag from time to time as well. I wish these issues didn't arise, but overall a worthwhile purchase.
