Review on Create Comfy Punch Yarn Pillows with Klutz Craft Kit by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great creative project!

Great set - my 6 year old son of course made an ice cream cone pillow with my help. An older child could probably do it alone. The kit has almost everything you need, all you need is a black marker and scissors, and safety pins and a needle and thread make it easier. Then thread the "tool" with yarn. I had some trouble following the instructions literally - obviously you can't pull the yarn through every time (you'll see what I mean when it says repeat step 2). Once I got the hang of it and realized how easy it was, I passed it on to my son, who found it easy too. An important note is that you can skip squares in the burlap - this will be discussed later in the guide, but the first guide will tell you to move on to the next square. cut the felt to the same shape - the book says to cut the design out of paper and trace it on the felt, but if you do you will lose the ability to use the design on the back in the future. So instead I put the felt on top of the design and circled it - you can barely see it. Next I use safety pins to attach burlap and felt, sew and more. This is the part I mostly had to do as needle sewing was too difficult for my son. You might want to add one of those cheap needle threaders to the kit as it was very difficult to thread the narrow needle with embroidery floss. My son loved the finished product! It's a small very soft pillow and I feel quite tender. The yarn loops are not sewn or secured, so I have a feeling they can unravel with a simple tug. Do not put in the washing machine! The instructions were very clear and easy to read and in a nice book to keep on a shelf (i.e. no manual). You can save the kit and buy additional materials to make more pillows. We did it in a few hours, but it can also be spread over several days.
