Water shoes fulfilled my desire for a shoe to wear without socks in hot weather, but it is not a sandal. I ordered the width 4E and it fits perfectly. Even with a wide width, the shoe looks narrow, a narrow size would not fit. Very good insole material and arch support. I didn't go in the water with them, they're too good now. For dirty work I use an old pair of shoes from other manufacturers. I am very happy with this shoe as I am with most New Balance shoes I have had.
