Ideal for documents especially legal sized, receipts, cards, checks etc anything that is not letter sized (it works great for letter too Format). This scanner creates very nice images or PDF files that are sized to fit the size of the document. My more expensive tablet doesn't (although it has other advantages). You might be able to squeeze it into a laptop bag, but fitting it into a regular suitcase certainly won't be a problem. With software, as usual with scanners, a mess. But as far as scanner software goes, it's not that much. I don't think Document Capture Pro can do anything that EPSON Scan can. However, it appears that the scanner button needs to be configured using Document Capture Pro. Easily create multi-page PDFs and even mix color, grayscale, and black and white. I have not done photo scanning and have no intention of doing so. But it definitely does what I want, and well.
