This is awesome. I've been trying to make an actual poached egg for years. The best try was with the Julia Child trick, but it takes a few more steps and is easier. I prefer to buy kitchen appliances that can be used more than once (good advice from Elton Brown), but this is my exception. Some tips. Try just one egg at first to shorten the time you want. I set the timer to 2 minutes and 50 seconds for runny yolk and large egg. Gives me a few extra minutes to get him out of the water. They give you a suggested time but it varies. Second, add some vinegar to hold the egg whites together. Third, make sure the water is bubbling and not boiling rapidly. Finally, spray the bottom of the pan with nonstick spray before adding the water. My balls got a little stuck to the bottom the first time, which helps. I will be using this regularly and am very happy to have found this wonderful tool. I don't know why anyone left a bad review because if you apply it correctly they should come out pretty perfect. And if you don't like the little threads along the top edge, just cut them off. never mind
