Makes poached eggs accessible to everyone!

This appliance makes poached eggs the traditional way, even for young children. This requires about 4 inches of depth (the size of an eyeball); I used them in a large saucepan. Before using them, you need to understand the mechanism behind poached eggs; You need water, vinegar, patience. The water should be hot but not boiling (really as little agitation as possible) after you get to that point (170 degrees; I have a laser thermometer in my kitchen), set the cups in, pour in the eggs; START THE

The best egg poacher I've ever used!

A lot of these OXO silicone products turned out to be coincidences, but these egg poachers were definitely a hit! I've tried several egg poachers over the years and these are by far the best. They make the perfect poached eggs quick and easy. What I think works best is not following the exact instructions that come in the box. For best results, fill the pot to the marked line as indicated and bring the water to a boil. Then put the eggs in the poacher mold and immediately remove the pot from…

Perfectly cooked poached eggs on the first try

I love Eggs Benedict, but when it comes to making poached eggs I've had mixed success. I just wanted something reliable that would work so I bought this because I trust Oxo as a brand. I was very excited when it arrived and made breakfast for dinner the same day so I could try it. Pros - Perfectly cooked poached eggs on the first try. You can see in the photo I made two poached eggs to make sure the first one wasn't an accident. Excellent results both times. I kept the water at a low boil for…

Whoever came up with this design is a genius.

This is awesome. I've been trying to make an actual poached egg for years. The best try was with the Julia Child trick, but it takes a few more steps and is easier. I prefer to buy kitchen appliances that can be used more than once (good advice from Elton Brown), but this is my exception. Some tips. Try just one egg at first to shorten the time you want. I set the timer to 2 minutes and 50 seconds for runny yolk and large egg. Gives me a few extra minutes to get him out of the water. They give…

In my search for a good poached egg I've tried many approaches. This gave an excellent result - my personal record. I strained the egg through a fine sieve to get rid of the watery protein (the egg was older). I then threw it in the oxo poacher with slow boiling water. Then I pulled it out after 3 minutes. Brilliant! The egg is well formed. The yolk was nice and runny (a little less time or a little less heat next time). There were almost no more white spots in the pan. You need a lot of water…
