Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhanced Xbox 360 Media Remote by Daniela Velasquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's hard to tell if this is an improvement over the old white design.

This remote control has many advantages. It's smaller, lighter, prettier (glossy black), and costs less than what I paid for my old, larger, white Xbox 360 remote a few years ago. First, if you haven't seen or used the old remote then you might be missing most of what I'm about to say. The remote control works well and has almost all the necessary functions. But when I switched from the old ones, I was missing a few things. This new version definitely looks better. Black almost always looks better than white, showing less dirt and dust as it ages. But when you actually hold it in your hands and not the old white, the white appears MUCH stronger and heavier. Personally, I don't mind if portable devices are heavy. So drastic weight loss, which many perceive as positive, I consider negative. It's so light it feels like you could snap it in half if you accidentally trip over it. Some buttons have been removed from this new version. All Windows Media Center buttons have been removed along with the eject button. Probably 98% of people don't really care about WMC buttons, but I personally liked the ability to switch disc trays with the eject button. This version's keys are stiffer and crisper than the old version, which had softer, quieter, rubberized keys. But the old remote was sold for ten dollars more. So overall, it's difficult to pick a clear winner. Decide what is important to you and use the differences described to evaluate what works best for you. Nowadays, you can still get the old version from various places for a pretty decent price. Overall, though, I have to admit that I'm leaning more towards the older version than this one.
