Review on HOLDPEAK HP 985C APP Thermometer Non Contact Temperature by Paul Andrews

Very satisfied with HP-985C-APP Laser Infrared Thermometer. Surprised how accurate it is when the emissivity is right. Black or very dark surfaces work best. It's not as accurate as one might expect on bright or glossy surfaces. I tested boiling water in a dark pot and it was within +/- 2 degrees 212F. The distance is not the decisive criterion either. I can check the rear differential case temperature from a foot or 4 feet away with the same result. This is a useful tool.
