Good indoor antenna

I use it as an indoor antenna, which is probably not the strength of this antenna. It's big and a little clunky for an indoor unit, but it works well. I think this antenna will work very well outdoors or in the attic. Nothing special, except for a lot of plastic, which makes you think about the price. The stand is weak, so use it with caution. Reception is slightly better than the older blade antenna I've used and the other smaller tower antenna I've tried and returned. Most of the stations I need to receive work fine, but as I've found with other indoor antennas, the frequencies that overlap the center VHF channels (6-11) seem weak on these antennas unless you are on the top floor. Not sure why as these are strong channels in this area. I recommend using this and any indoor antenna next to a window and placing it as high as possible. HD channels work very well and provide a clear picture. In addition, the range of this antenna is about 50 miles for really good reception, which is standard for a good indoor antenna. Those who say their indoor antennas are good for long distances give you a BS line. The included cable, which is very long for an indoor unit, has proven annoying in terms of interference. I switched to a standard 75 ohm cable which works better. If you decide to use a different (and thicker) cable, buy one with a 90* connector on one end for easier connection to your antenna. Although this antenna didn't come with the amp, I bought an Antop amp separately to try it out. Reception could be a little better, but not enough to make a real difference. By the way, I saved about $10 by ordering the amplifier separately compared to buying an identical antenna model with an amplifier. Find out!
