inch gap at bottom when open. This is also a heavy door so I need something strong that also won't slip like a piece of hard plastic. These doorstops are actually very strong but have some padding to keep them from scratching. They are larger than the normal stops I have found and so (although I was skeptical and bought two for this one door) only one of them will hold the heavy door with a closing spring that is in the picture. Since we also have a doormat, it's even easier to keep the door open when we want it. Hope this helps you choose! Also, the seller emailed me without asking me that there is a lifetime warranty on the product and I just need to email if I'm ever unhappy with the product in the future. I don't think I will ever need this service but it was certainly a nice touch and great customer service to go along with this superb product!
