When cleaning under the edge of the rim, a gray-black soot emerged. The bottom is attached in such a way that the seam creates a gap that cannot be cleaned or dried. I pushed in the edge of a paper napkin and found a gray-black sooty substance. Boiling water in the kettle does not whistle. The drink with boiled water looked grayer than usual, so I made a drink with plain water for comparison. The drink on the left in the attached photo, made with water boiled in the kettle, is slightly darker. I threw it away because I didn't want to drink the unfamiliar gray filth. Very disappointed because it was a nice kettle.
