This tool is approximately 1/4-1/2 shorter for the N55 engine! Caution! Danger! If the center bolt is loose or removed, the timing sprocket will unlock and the camshafts may jump out of sync! Under no circumstances should you loosen the crank centering screw unless you have removed the valve cover and locked the cams! I'm doing an N55 seal in 2012. This tool indicates that it only fits N55 up to 2010. So that's the problem. I'm considering turning off the center screw head if I can't find the right tool. I may need to use a tool with 6 bolts holding the gasket in place, or because another tech here modified and lengthened that tool to accommodate the center bolt. My problem was that the belt fell off and pushed the seal away. That's BMW's problem as they can eat the belt and ruin engines!
