Review on πŸ”§ Lisle 32750 Tailpipe Expander: Efficient and Versatile Performance Tool for Exhaust Systems by Ricky Bedell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

this tool ONLY repairs the ends of a used exhaust pipe

pro: with effort and all my strength this tool allowed me to smooth out the fork creases on the muffler outlets and plug the new pipe Cons: This is NOT A CASE, not a "Pipe expander" because after a lot of work and all my strength (and I'm a big man) I've barely been able to repurpose my THIN muffler outlets for new tubes. Details: At the center crease of the U clamp, I had to twist this thing in the pipe about 6 times as tight as I could to different depths to be able to use a 1/2" ratchet on the pipe extension with a small hammer and block of wood. .on the deep crease of the U clamp I had to twist this thing in the tube about 8 times at varying depths as hard as I could (with my body in a prone position pushing with both hands) with a 1/2" pull and then fasten it in the pipe 2 times and use a 2lb slide to drive the tool into the pipe at various tensions and then retract as far as possible to be able to drive the new pipe fully into the reconditioned pipe jack with a large hammer and a few minutes of continuous pounding. In addition, you must have the pipe you are working with firmly secured to a sturdy stationary bench and vise, or mounted and clamped in a vehicle in order to use this tool or any manually operated "pipe expander". really awesome. Despite the name, these tools are only intended to remove wrinkles and dents from a previous installation. This tool is compared to the ubiquitous unbranded pipe flare tool in a red plastic case sold on Amazon and Ebay for the same price as this tool: the tool doesn't even work. It breaks out if you put a half inch grip on it and try to twist it. It's bulky, poorly designed, unusable and thankfully refundable, which I did. So I'm leaving this tool that worked for my application with only 3 stars due to the extremely inappropriate title in the title. it should more accurately be called something like "ID Exhaust Pipe Repair Tool" since it is not capable of straightening pipes thicker than an exhaust pipe.
