You have to work to work well.

It works very well after some work. The paint on it sticks the parts very well. After dismantling and cleaning with the spoked wheel, lubricate all contact points and threads well. After that it works very well.

  • Easy handling
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Tool not working

After more than 45 minutes trying to widen the exhaust from 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" we had to give up. It would not be expanded. Note that this wasn't a thick pressure pipe, it was a thin exhaust pipe. We found it much easier to drive a steel pipe into a heated exhaust pipe to get the correct diameter (15 minutes).

beautiful tool. - Share

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I think it will do the job. The last one I had I've been using for almost 20 years and if I wasn't having a hard time I would still have it and it would still do its job. I've read that people have sheared off a bolt or thread, if you stretch a bit at a time and then loosen, twist and stretch again you shouldn't have bad results. My old one was used with a percussion gun in the shop for many years and never needed a new O-ring more than every 8 or 10โ€ฆ

Works, but have your flashlight and hammer ready.

I had to stretch the two ends of the exhaust pipe to 2" OD to use with a 2" ID fitting while removing the oval shape and making it round. I didn't have to move the metal very much, maybe only 1/8 inch. Using this tool with an impact wrench, one end of the tube worked reasonably well, but the other was stubborn and needed to be heated with a MAPP torch. The tool stuck in the pipe after each use, but after loosening the screw that held it tight, a hammer blow knocked it out.

Bare bolt fits exhaust pipes and tips

When I first used the expander it worked well, bit off bit by bit and treat everything with mobil 1 syntec lube. I was 2 turns from completing my exhaust extension (aluminized 16 gauge) and the bolt failed. I knocked out the tool, disassembled the tube and found the following (picture), the thread was completely stripped from the bolt. I had high hopes for this thing as my grandfather used Lisle tools for over 30 years. This was my first new instrument that I bought and it was already broken. A

Great product easy to use

This tool worked perfectly. I followed the advice of another reviewer. smear it! I took it apart and lubricated everything with heavy grease. Steel stretching is a major stress. No friction is required in the tool. Also, the bolt and spacer nut were painted from the factory, which caused them to seize. I tapped the thread with a tap and oiled it. Finally I need to convert the 2" OD to ID. I only went in about 3/8" at a time until I got the extension I needed. It's best not to try to doโ€ฆ

QUALITY Exhaust and tip tool

I bought this expander because I had some cast copper bends that didn't fit some EMT tubing with the same outside diameter. I was working on a patio gazebo and needed elbows to make the transition from vertical to horizontal. I heated my elbows with a flashlight, heated the metal, and then used this tool to enlarge the end holes. A total of eight ends were made and the tool worked perfectly. In my experience you will have no trouble changing the shape of the muffler pipe. Before using theโ€ฆ

this tool ONLY repairs the ends of a used exhaust pipe

pro: with effort and all my strength this tool allowed me to smooth out the fork creases on the muffler outlets and plug the new pipe Cons: This is NOT A CASE, not a "Pipe expander" because after a lot of work and all my strength (and I'm a big man) I've barely been able to repurpose my THIN muffler outlets for new tubes. Details: At the center crease of the U clamp, I had to twist this thing in the pipe about 6 times as tight as I could to different depths to be able to use a 1/2" ratchet onโ€ฆ
