Perfect fit for 4th Gen Trans Am / Camaro / Firebird

This is the solution to a torn parking brake cover for 4th Gen Camaro / Firebird / Trans Am. This is for the parking brake on 1998 thru 2002 models. The Haynes manual doesn't say anything about how to fix it, but it's pretty easy. Take pics, disengage the parking brake, then remove the bolt, I believe 5/16" that holds the parking brake pad. It is desirable to move them down, but you can also drag them up. Then remove the pistons on both sides and the push pin on the side, not related to the adjustment. Do not loosen this push pin, it will secure the lever and prevent the lever from coming out of the mechanism. Then remove the 2 rear bolts/screws, I believe it's 5/16" to remove the metal plate holding this rubber grommet. Pull out the lever on the back. If desired you can remove it from the brake line Clean the internals, add those gaskets so the lever opens to the push button (not the chain tensioner), lubricate the internals with silicone based grease (I use this for the caliper pins), then reassemble in reverse order Put it back together after disassembly.. So don't over tighten the small screws, the torque should be 44psi (not much).
