Review on Lumax LX 1632 Black Drainmaster Storage by Mike Flyers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Suitable for Harley Davidson oil changes

Summary: Great for Harley Davidson and doesn't leak at all. Doesn't get under the main drain plug easily because of the bike stand, but can easily get under the engine and transmission. I looked at many oil pans on Revain before settling on this one. My requirements were that it would fit under the Harley (so height was key) and be able to stow without leaking. It had to last at least one full oil change, ideally more to save the trip to a nearby collection point, and it also had to be easy to transport. This device meets all of these criteria. Harley Davidson uses three different oils that must be changed at the same intervals: a) Engine Oil - 4 liters b) Transmission Oil - 1 liter c) Primary Drive Oil - 1.2 liters (38 oz) The total oil change is 6.2 liters. This unit will accommodate two full Harley oil changes. Captions: 1: Plan view. Unit is 17 7/8" long and 16" wide. 2: 16" wide. 3: 5 3/4" high. 4: Top view. 5: Detail of water collector. The ring works. The raised ring prevents spills from running down the sides. 6: Cap OD 1 9/16 inch. 7: Inside diameter of lid 1 1/4 inch. 8. Fragment of one of the wheels. 9th volume. Level lines for 1st and 2nd complete Harley oil changes.10: The device can easily be used to drain engine and transmission oil at the same time. Unfortunately, the bike stand prevents it from getting under the main drain plug. I needed a drain pan for a 2016 Harley Davidson Street Glide Special. This works well (except for draining the primary oil) and allows you to save two full oil changes. The container can be stored vertically and will not leak. Since the water trap is in the middle of the unit, offset a few inches on the sides, and I'm using a bike stand, it doesn't fit directly under the main drain. I tipped it a little and barely got it to work, but next time I'll use a small pan to drain the primary liquid and then pour it into the storage device. I've tested it for water leaks and suggest you do the same before letting any oil in. A lot of reviewers said they had issues with leaks but I didn't. Neither the top drain cap nor the large water trap were leaking. I posted a lot of pictures and measurements because with so many conflicting reviews on here it was hard to predict how it would work. As I don't use this on a car I can't tell if the oil squirts from the top like some people claim. The oil wasn't supposed to run far under the bike, so I couldn't test it for splashes or wind from the water sump like it might happen under a car. I hope this review helps other Harley owners make their purchase. solution for this product. If I have problems with this in the future I will update this August 2019 review, but for now it works great.
