I learned a very hard lesson about ESD and burned my Mac with HDMI. So I bought it as a replacement, hoping to be able to just airplay my laptop to a second monitor and it works great. I also used it to cast to a projector. Setup was easy, just plug in, asked which wifi is mine, add password and boom... 2nd monitor via Airplay.
