Review on Hioki 3246-60 HiTester Pen-Sized DMM with Flashlight, 42 MΩ, 600V by Jose Perry

I work as a movie lighter and this is a small pocket item that I carry with me on set. This is the minimum I need, AC and DC voltage and continuity. The LED backlight at the end and the backlit display come in handy at night or on a dark stage. While the plastic caps to protect the test leads are a thoughtful addition on this model (they shorted me out in tight spots), I wish there was a more elegant way to add them. They just turn on and off, and since most of the applications I use the meter for require them to be turned off, I'm sure I'll lose them. It would have been better to have them integrated somehow so they can be tucked away when a full size gauge cable is needed, but they didn't have to be removed. The probe's red tip had recently broken off and I contacted Hioki to get a new tip. After waiting two days I was told there was "no part number" for it and they couldn't order it. I know there's a whole basket of these somewhere, but they don't know how to sell me one. It is ridiculous and wasteful to throw away a perfectly working gauge because an easily replaceable part is missing. I'm also very frustrated that I have to spend over $60 on a new gauge instead of $5 to have the part shipped to me. I will buy a new meter from a company that is more interested in customer service.
