Review on MakerBot Filament Diameter Large Spool by Rick Vidaurri

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality prints

I bought it to finish the print. This was my first time using a 3D printer and I didn't know any better. I've printed a few items on a raft and this filament has worked fine, but when I wanted to lower the cost of my prints by making hem or skirt this filament failed every time. At first I thought it was my printer, I spent hours watching YouTube. Tutorials on calibrating 3D printers, adjusting the print quality optimally for a good print, extruding and heating the build plate. None of these "fixes" worked. While doing this I bought a different color of thread and substituted it. So the new thread prints perfectly every time. Even my mistakes in setting up the print were good (I added too many supports to the print and couldn't remove them, reduced the number of supports and worked like clockwork). After some more practice with a different filament, I decided to print in white, so I switched Maker Bot filament and the problems started again. Unsuccessful print after unsuccessful print. I bought a white hatchbox thread and had no problems. Good thing this line is the perfect diameter for my herbivore and I will be using it to mow lawns. Worst use of $42 filament. Buy a hatchbox or overture for half the price of this crap.

Pros
  • 3D printing filament
Cons
  • I will add it later
