Useful but worm gear sticks

I'm a plumber and I use wrenches a lot. The cloth pouch that these wrenches come in was a nice little bonus for keeping things together and organized. The wide mouth and deep, pointed jaws made it easy to use yet versatile. A small wrench could be used when you needed a large sponge but in small spaces, and a larger wrench was good when you needed extra torque. The only complaint I had was that the jaws would sometimes lock up on the nut when the hard torque was lowered. Normally a larger wrench would make it more difficult to remove from the nut, but once the adjustment is removed it would be fine. Some wds helped reduce the number of cases but didn't solve the problem. To loosen a stuck gear I would use a couple of channel locks to grab the gear and back off the gear to take the pressure off the nut. Not a bad set for the price, I'll probably buy more often. The inconvenience of jamming can be an issue for some people, so you might want to spend more on a wrench. But I was happy and they definitely come into play. Found the little one really helpful for running the water heater.

Pros
  • Maximum jaw opening: 1-3/8" (34mm) for 6" wrenches. 1-3/4" (50mm) for 10" wrenches
Cons
  • So far so good
