Carefully!

I don't actually own this machine but I'd like to add a few comments that I hope people will find helpful. First of all I would like to confirm that there have been a number of problems with Toshiba DVD players. We had one that was really bad. It leaked everywhere and got worse over time - eventually to the point where it became unusable. In fact, we've received notification that a class action lawsuit has been initiated over defective Toshiba DVD players - several different models have been mentioned. The invoice provided for cash payment to the buyer. Looks like they really screwed it up. Second, one reviewer said that if you buy this device, you don't need to buy another one to be Blu-ray and/or High Definition DVD compatible. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure this device isn't compatible with any of these formats. This player "converts" (supposedly) standard DVDs to an emulated high-definition format when connected to an HDTV with an HDMI cable. (Like a component connection, an HDMI connection can only be used with one part of a DVD device.) Common sense dictates that this upconversion may result in a slight improvement in picture quality, but it may not, depending on the source material you're watching . .Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
