It's getting hard to find old fashioned long matches. This worked great for getting deep into the candles in the jar. Our gas range burners ignite with a match when there is no source of electrical spark and presumably this would be safe for gas range burners. Friends tell me they use them for grills and propane gas wells. So far only used for standard scented candles in glasses and it's ok
