In my life I have owned MANY different brands of irons, from cheap to expensive. I have naturally curly/frizzy hair that I usually wear with straight boning. I found out which brands I really like. I was looking for 1/2 inch when I recently cut my hair. Really hard to find 1/2 inch. After reading the reviews carefully, I chose this one. It worked. I ran it sideways through a section of my hair to see if it straightened it. It turned out very well. Is it great like my regular RUSK size? No, but it's perfect for bangs and short hairstyles. It gets close to the scalp without leaving that weird indentation. In the photo shown, I curled my hair (because it's raining and there's no point in straightening it), but I straightened my bangs. I would definitely recommend this for bangs, short hair and retouching. Oh, and it does a pretty good job of curling shorter strands. The best are the floating plates with no gaps. This is very important when choosing a rectifier.
