I bought this kit to make vows 4 inches high and 2-3/4 inches wide*. The wick is thick enough to melt the size of the candle I make, but they release too much soot. like that . . . Now I'm going to replace the wicks, which adds "value" to this set for my use. . . Well, not that attractive. *For clarification - I make candles in painted pots that I plan to reuse. So the disadvantage of these FOR ME wicks is that after a single use, the amount of soot that accumulates on the pot wall renders the pot virtually unusable. The image I have provided shows two pots AFTER a candle has been lit in each: the left pot after using a wick other than this one (you will notice no drop of soot is left on the sides of the pot) and the right one pot after using one of these wicks (and doing so AFTER attempting to remove soot from the walls of the pot!). As a relative newbie to candle making, I'm not sure if this can be avoided by using waxed/waxed wicks, which they are NOT.
