These are great for me when I want to quickly make wooden plaques for different occasions. I have bought 4 of these so far and find them very suitable for my needs. Much better than other similarly priced parts that are instead made of thin sheets of metal glued one on top of the other. On the negative side: the wood has a very unfinished color and feel, but a quick varnish/paint will take care of that and allow you to fine-tune the final tone/texture. They are made from several 1/2 inch thick pieces of wood fused together and as the pieces are different hues it is easy to tell upon inspection although the seams themselves are structurally strong and this could only be a cosmetic issue mitigated somewhat. if varnished/varnished. I also have a pair with small dark knots (<1/2" in diameter). On the plus side: they ship very quickly and for the price - excellent quality and price! The french corners are a great finishing touch and the rounded edges are nicely made.I usually drill a 2" diameter round insert 1/4 deep to accommodate the coins and there is no evidence of cracks/splits.
