This hood is about the same quality as other Zoo Med products. It's strong, reliable and simple. Unlike some others, the hood does not have an annoying protective shield that would block UV rays from reaching your reptile. It also doesn't have the finicky, buggy tilt sensor that others have. For the last few months my medical zoo hood + UV lamp has been running on a daily timer and it has never flickered or stopped turning on. I bought this one after having constant problems with a few other brands. There is a rib on the back that prevents it from slipping on the terrarium. It fits snugly in a 36 inch terrarium and may not fit perfectly if your terrarium is longer than 36 inches. Highly recommended. Edit: I noticed that several reviewers complain about the lights not being on. Please make sure you screw the bulb in all the way. I have had a hood on a beard tank for over 3 years and I have another for my Uromastics. Snapping the bulbs into place requires a little effort. But once they're locked (by rolling them up), you'll never have a problem with them flickering again.
