I've always been used to using a bigger car for travel and vacations, but my last purchase was a 2016 Kia Soul. Decent load but when we went camping we knew we were going to need a lot more storage space. I chose this one because it is 19 CF and many others were 15 CF. Going for a larger size was a good idea as it offered plenty of room and was suitable for long, narrow and boxy things. The straps were easy to install and did not damage the car. Throughout the trip we didn't feel any movement or reason to believe it wasn't 100% safe. We had good weather so I can't confirm the water resistance but the carrier felt solid and durable.
