Fram did not use Wix

. I've used them on this truck for years and just had to open up my engine to see what was rattling inside. A ton of rubbish was found in the pallet. Mainly carbon and some metal fragments. Out of curiosity I used a filter cutter and opened up the filter to inspect it and found that the cardboard tabs holding the filter together were not holding it together and the oil was bypassing the filter. I checked my bearings and magazines and they were all covered in scars. I use Mobile 1 oil and since I bought this truck new like other cars I have never had this problem with Wix filters. My Wix engines have always been clean internally when adjusting the valves. Turns out the knock was an unlucky gm lifter. Known issue, but debris in the engine must be caught by the filters to keep the engine clean. come on frame For real? Cardboard? Wix uses aluminum!

Pros
  • . Oil filter and accessories
Cons
  • . I have no negative feelings about this, everything is fine.
