Review on Broan NuTone 634M Roof Black Round by Patrick Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Hole does not fit solid sewer pipe

Roof assembly went well. Like everyone else, I had to transplant the damper and strainer. The damper spring seems a little too strong, but it's too early to tell if it will restrict airflow. Aesthetically, the vent is understated and understated, which is exactly what most people are looking for. Any decent range hood will require a solid, smooth-walled duct unless it conforms to local building codes. The opening in this vent is designed for a flexible duct type. If Broan recommends such a channel, then I'm glad I didn't vote her for the hood. I haven't figured out how I'm going to attach the air duct yet. The crimped end of the solid duct is the same diameter as the opening on this vent. I spent an hour in the attic trying to compress or expand a massive sewer pipe to fit in or out of the vent. Until the adjustable knee I was using broke. I'll look for some kind of adapter and other than that I think the best thing would be to find a way to smooth out the kinks in the duct a bit and put it over the vent. The uncompressed side of the one-piece air hose is significantly larger than the vent, so I feel like raising the swages and trying to compress them leaves them under some stress.
