Review on πŸ•οΈ Sportz Truck Tent Blue/Grey - Full Size Short 6.5-Feet Box: Ultimate Camping Solution for Truck Owners by Ryan Sandell

One of the best tents at the moment and more versatile.

We bought this for a 2018 Ram 2500. Basically it fits. My husband and I have been camping regularly for over 40 years so we recognize and appreciate a well made tent. This tent is well designed with options not found in other tents. Easy to assemble? Well, see, it's not difficult to assemble EVERYTHING in such a big truck. If someone says it's easy, they're 6ft 6in or taller. Even my 6ft 2in husband balances on a truck wheel to lift it while I help. Observations1. Large, durable tent floor. A hole in the tent floor doesn't help either, so we stretch a heavy tarpaulin between the back of the truck and the tent floor to prevent tearing due to friction. The waterproof floor extends over the wheel arches and over the tailgate.Good.2. Taped seams. Excellent.3. A window that opens fully at the back of the cab to give us access to our young daughter who sleeps in the back of the truck. We can also access the plug for Hubby's CPAP or our ventilator and then close it almost completely. By the way, the zipper can be rearranged where you want to leave a tiny hole for the drawstring. My daughter and I don't have to contend with power cords draped around our bed.4. There is space at the end of the bed to sit down and put on shoes etc without hanging over the tailgate. I bought a thick bath mat and use it to place at the foot of the bed and at the end of the tent. Keeps the tent clean, prevents the "hot eye" from landing directly on the metal side of the trunk and in turn protects the tent floor. It is easy to shake out and keeps the bed and tent free from dirt. The size of the mat that fits perfectly is 2ft x 4ft. Lots of windows and vents. The side windows are large, but stationary - there are no zips on the grille. However, the tent cover on the side windows has a crescent shaped side zip as well as a center zip for multiple ventilation configurations. The front and rear mesh windows open fully and can be operated both inside and outside the tent. That means you can open the front tent window from the cockpit. Ordinary lightning, tent. They will continue to be the weakest part of the tent regardless of the support pillars.6. There are many poles, and as mentioned, they are long. They hardly fit. They are very thin and flexible. There's a trick to getting them up. Insert them into the sleeves in the order indicated in the instructions, then go back and tuck into pockets or eyelets. Be careful.7. Our big poles were barely long enough for the shed. But the awning is one of the main reasons why it is worth spending money on this particular tent. The tent protects against light rain.8. To fly. The flysheet for the tent only works where it hangs over the tent but doesn't touch it. It basically does. The sides of the grain aren't long enough to hang over the sides of the truck, or tight enough to sag or touch. We will be inserting foam pads under the side windows, between the outside of the tent but under the screen. We have them on hand for carrying our canoe. This pushes the tent in slightly, keeping the sides of the screen just enough to channel droplets onto the outside of the truck and increasing airflow inside the tent when it rains. A note: the fly cover over the windscreen is zipped so you can still access the cockpit. We have used this when traveling. It's a pain to build up and take down completely every night. We learned to take the poles out of our pockets, fold the sections at either end of each pole and simply fold them back into place. We bought and installed a soft roll-up awning. It is compatible with this exact setup. This is a solid, well-made tent well suited for the purpose. In most cases, a truck roof is easier. Today there are only a few of them and they cost a little more. This tent is spot on. A lot of thought went into the creation of this particular tent. It costs extra money. No, we do not work for this company and do not receive bribes. I'm only answering questions I wanted to know before venturing into this more expensive tent. Enjoy!
