I installed a very large transmission cooler in my car due to the modifications to the IE transmission, it is a high speed converter that generates a lot of heat during hard acceleration or long steep climbs in the mountains. However, under normal conditions I didn't force the transmission to go past 130 or 140 degrees, which was too steep. Switching wasn't as clear as it should have been. With a liquid thermostat installed, after a while the transmission heats up to 180 degrees and shifts are now crisp and the tires chirp like they were made to shift. Looking at the temperature sensor, it seems that it's starting to open about 180 degrees. So it seems to be working as expected and no leaks in the thermostatic block fittings. Overall this is a good product so far. my own braces and that's the only negative thing I could mention. Winter is coming in a few months so this will be a real test of how warming up the gearbox works, but the way it works now warming up shouldn't be a problem. I would recommend this to anyone installing an external transmission cooler that is not wired to your car or truck's radiator as heat can be your enemy and temperatures can also cool excessively.
