It's a ticket!

Put a really cool 40k on my Sierra and it did exactly what I needed over the summer. 40+ degrees shaved when it's three digits and I pull a camper However, it excels too much in heat dissipation. Towing my boat back up the steep roads from the 110 degree dock it never went above 180 and dropped like a rock to 160 on the freeway. When it cooled down in the winter I had to turn it off completely. Entering the thermostat. In 90 degree weather, which was pretty good, I was only able to get it to…

Pros
  • Makes warm up faster
Cons
  • No power

Transmission thermostat

I installed a very large transmission cooler in my car due to the modifications to the IE transmission, it is a high speed converter that generates a lot of heat during hard acceleration or long steep climbs in the mountains. However, under normal conditions I didn't force the transmission to go past 130 or 140 degrees, which was too steep. Switching wasn't as clear as it should have been. With a liquid thermostat installed, after a while the transmission heats up to 180 degrees and shifts are…

Pros
  • Ideal for cold climates
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Mandatory for transmission cooler

transmission cooler are cheap insurance. However, before I discovered this thermostat, gears changed quite a bit in cold weather. That should solve this problem and even at lows of 40s I can tell from the shift quality and sensor data that the transmission is coming up to operating temperature quickly as it did before the cooler was installed. Other cars never seem to warm up the transmission in freezing temperatures. I like that a small amount of liquid leaks through the thermostatic valve to…

Pros
  • Ensures faster warm-up
Cons
  • Some small things
