Review on Mary Maxim Starlette Worsted Projects by Gelin Battle

love this yarn.

I bought this brown rag after knitting a net scarf with just over 1 strand of rag denim. It held up very well after being machine washed (warm) in a laundry bag and tumble dried on a low setting. This yarn is amazing. Unlike the previous reviewer, I am not considering this "nylon" as it more closely resembles the feel and sound of raw cotton at the end of a Q-tip tampon. Creaks when knitting. I recommend using metal needles as the texture of the yarn causes it to stick to wooden needles and make the stitches difficult to slip off. The yarn is very easy to knit - it does not unravel or break during processing. I have often taken a break from knitting my own shawl with Caron's Simply Soft yarn (which falls apart very easily) and have worked on a shawl in this yarn - the ease of working with Mary Maxim Starlette Ragg Yarn is comparable to day and night . The recipient of the torn scarf specifically asked for it and said he prefers it to the braided scarf I made for him using Caron's Simply Soft. Due to the banding of the yarn layer, the end product has a beautiful tweed brindle colour. Projects created with it will have a very homemade look. In fact, it might not be as soft as Caron's Simply Soft, but overall its qualities outweigh any of its downsides. I plan to buy more in the future. Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Yarn
Cons
  • Slightly torn
