When I boot up my computer, it doesn't recognize my keyboard or mouse. I use a Kensington optical trackball and a simple USB keyboard with no ten keys. When I press the reset button and let it boot back up, it sees the mouse and keyboard and everything works fine. I was willing to put up with it for a while, assuming that's how these converters work, but then I decided to try another product (Linkskey). This other product works as expected; The computer recognizes the mouse and keyboard every time it starts up for the first time. While this option might work fine for KVM or a computer that never shuts down, it doesn't work for my purposes.
