This DIY board game kit is wonderful for a young elementary aged student who is beginning to play and understand board games. My eight year old was very excited to start designing his own board game and this kit comes with so many pieces that he is not limited on what he wants to make. He started by using the standard dice (although there are a choice of standard, numbered and blank dice provided), the gems and the character pieces and then added some squares to land on. As he practiced-played through his game, he began adding to the board and imagined how he could add the blank cards and game pieces. We played a game with him and while playing, we were suggesting things he could add to the game. The fact that he designed something the family was playing together gave him such excitement and creative ideas.This kit is a great way to encourage your child's creative and logical thinking that is device-free. Since our child designed his own game through this kit, we love to sit with him and play through it and we all love the time we spend together on something he made himself. We've found so much fun and love how determined he is to design a game that anyone can play with him. I would definitely recommend this set; my son has spend so much device-free time with it and I've enjoyed watching his creativity and individuality come out.
