This rack is a great solution for mounting kayaks to the ceiling. As noted by many others, the provided mounting bolts (3/16 x 2.25” carriage bolts) are totally inadequate, but this is easily remedied by replacing the bolts with something larger. The holes drilled in the mounting bracket are 1/4 inch, and a 1/4 by 3.5” carriages bolt would probably be fine. I enlarged the mounting holes and used 5/16 by 3.5” in carriage bolts. The rack itself installs easily and functions very well. It’s well engineered, sturdy, and simple. It keeps the kayaks tight to the ceiling. I have two of the 25” version of this rack holding a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120, Old Town Sorento 126, and a Delta 12.10. The boats are about 4” from the ceiling. I have a 93” ceiling and the clearance below the lowest point is 73” plus. You could probably get a few inches more by having the kayaks closer to the ceiling, though getting the boats in place would be a little tougher. I can pretty easily get get the boats on the rack by myself.
