DOA? Maybe? I pay extra for the fully modular

Whenever I take a break or try to buy parts "cheaper" for any auto shop, I'll probably suffer. I find it proven. The total chaos of a non-modular power supply freaks me out - this is no different. When connecting the machine, the wiring and cable wire is pretty cute. Each individual cable has plenty of slack to ensure cables are routed securely throughout the tower. I wouldn't recommend this for mini-ITX or micro-ATX builds. Upgrade to a fully modular system. Yes, full modularity is a bit more expensive, but the ability to swap out the cables you "need" makes cleaning and cable management a lot easier. As for the bad part, I think the device is DOA? I've done my calculations and on a 16GB i7 with 4 hard drives 500w is enough. I actually calculated the required wattage for my build to be around 450. Once connected, I checked the cables again and reset everything in the case. the board lights up briefly, starts the fan and immediately goes out. Have I connected everything correctly, did I switch off the power supply to check? No I get nothing like the switch on the power supply is clicking due to some sort of malfunction in the block. If I replace these and the same thing happens, it's probably the motherboard. A few tips: Have a proven and reliable standby power source for your builds. If the one you ordered doesn't work, replace it. Still failed? motherboard. Unless? Power Supply.Go Modular, it took me so long to run the wires that the money I "saved" didn't make any sense to me.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
