I used a hole punch to make a template out of thin cardboard. This is probably the easiest way to make holes in the center of large areas and seems less of a hassle than punching with pliers. Cuts through almost anything, it just may take more cycles the thicker and denser the material. It took about 15 punches to go through a popsicle stick. It's a hardwood (birch) and not a tool I would use it for, but it will cut through heavy fabric and your cutting mat if you're not careful. Working with the tool is fairly easy, but it takes a bit of practice to get the blade nice and straight on the surface and how much stroke it takes to not go too deep into the cutting surface. The tool has several disadvantages. On very thin paper with closely spaced holes, you can tear the paper between the holes if you're not careful. If you punch a lot of thick paper, you may need to clean the tip from time to time, it is designed to fall out, but sometimes gets too tight to clean itself. You can also let the tip deviate from the position you set it at if it's not perfectly square or if the tip is overloaded. Although the tool had a small crack in the handle, this did not affect function and I do not expect this to happen. shorten his life. The look of the instrument itself is pretty cool and the build quality seems solid enough (machined parts are not stamped). There were a few dull spots on the blades, luckily none of them were jagged and they still functioned normally. Overall, I couldn't make a comparable tool with such a low cost of materials, and no tool other than a CNC plotter would save me time. It arrived and required no modifications to work, works with a fairly wide range of materials and started using it immediately, so 5 stars. Now all I need is a pair of 3-bladed stencil scissors.
