You probably won't be happy plugging it into anything less than USB 3.0.
My daughter's used computer has USB 2.0 USB ports, maybe even a few 1.1 ports, and the motherboard doesn't offer any upgrade ports. On the packaging of this WLAN adapter it says "USB 3.0β in big letters. So the WiFi signal is not that good for us. I can't tell you download or upload speeds, but photo websites take time to load fully. So make sure you have USB 3.0 and you'll probably be happy.
