Spool will not rotate

. This hook has a fatal flaw, the spool does not turn well. I stupidly bought this in several colors before trying it and they all have the same problem. In theory it has everything I'm looking for in a shuttle, but it just isn't functional. When I need more line off the hook, I literally have to stop my job and manually spin that spool to get more line off my hook. Any attempt to unwind the line by pulling will simply result in the line on the spool becoming taut and tangling. It is so rigid that it is even impossible turning it with a shuttle with one hand. I have to hold it in one hand and use the other hand to turn the spool until I have enough thread. The edges of the spool are also very thin to the point where they are sharp when I spin them. fingers hurt. This slows things down and makes weaving more frustrating and less fun. I switched to a moonlit hook that holds more line and doesn't use a spool. It works great and I will never go back to Aerlit. Pros
  • Made of plastic with a steel hook (1.0mm), the Aerlit Shuttle is a replica of the Made in England Aero Shuttle.
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
