used it for my homemade e-bike, needed a circuit breaker when braking, installed it directly on the rear caliper, but could also be used together with a cable that works with a cheap controller. The brown wire is positive, the yellow wire is signal, and the black wire is negative. Just connect the positive lead to a 5 volt source. In my case I took it off the gas and the black to the negative pole of the brake and the yellow or signal to the opposite pole. I'll keep this hall effect switch in mind for future projects
