Update 01/22/2020: Not sure what prompted me to update this post after 4 years, but here I am. I guess I just want to say that after replacing the caps, which Alexey talks about in detail on his blog (link in the comments), the sub worked longer than the original (1.5 years), and I got a replacement under warranty received (2 years). Why do they make this product with such inferior capacitors? And the replacement caps I bought from Digikey are only a few dollars. I am confident I will never buy or recommend any other Polk product knowing they only use cheap components in their products to save pennies only to scam their customers by offering outrageous shipping and request replacement fees clearly related to their defects. Equity. Oh and the competitor product I bought to replace my second Polk subwoofer which failed still works fine after 4 years with no problems. This subwoofer and a refurbished Polk subwoofer (capacitors replaced by me) have been used in a dual subwoofer setup for almost 4 years and both still work. Find out. Original Post: It was a pretty decent subwoofer while it worked. I liked the small area and the sound was good. I would give it at least 3 or even 4 stars for the sound, but its reliability and Polk customer service bring it down to 2 stars. After a year and a half, even without a connection to the receiver, he began to make a steady beating, similar to a heartbeat. I contacted Polk support and they said the amp was blown and since it has a 3 year warranty they said they would send a new amp if I just sent the back of the amp. Shipping to them was about $12 and they sent a replacement pretty quickly. The replacement they sent arrived with a broken connector so I sent it back and got a different amp plate in exchange. The second worked well for 2 years. After about two years, it started making the same steady hit as the original. I contacted Polk support again and this time received a rude response. As it was no longer under the 3 year warranty (1.5 years for the first + 2 years for the second) there was nothing they could do except offer me to sell a remanufactured amp record at the same price as the brand . brand new subwoofer, only refurbished parts only have one year warranty. I was able to find a completely refurbished subwoofer direct from Polk on ebay for less than what they wanted just for the amp board. I really don't understand why customer service doesn't do more to make one of their customers happy instead of just trying to scam them. It's their product that keeps failing and I don't think there's too much expecting the amp to last more than two years. The bottom line is that while it was a good sounding subwoofer I appreciate the components they use for the amp. The lifetime of the amplifier is only about 2 years. I would buy another of these subwoofers because they sounded really good and I liked the small size, but after Polk support addressed the second situation and the fact that this subwoofer's amplifier keeps dying after a year and a half to two years . Service, I didn't want to risk that. Got a great deal on Black Friday this year to replace another brand's 10 inch subwoofer. Who knows, maybe that subwoofer will also fail in two years, but for now it sounds just as good as the Polk subwoofer but was $10 cheaper.
